Mason Cooley once said, “While we are reading, we are all Don Quixote.” I love that quote because it is so true. As we read we lose ourselves, the mundane of everyday life, and depart in the world where we can be and do anything. One of my absolute favorite books is East of Eden by John Steinbeck. Not only did he create such complex characters, but it has had the most profound influence on my life.

There is something magical about books, the impact they can have and the lasting impression they leave behind. Consider some of the classics like To Kill a Mockingbird (Lee), The Great Gatsby (Fitzgerald) and The Alchemist (Coelho) and what they meant to you the first time you read them. What about the second or third time? There are some books that teach us something new each time we read them.

What book has made an impact on your life? Who is your favorite author? I look forward to hearing your thoughts and recommendations.
