The Habits of Successful People

It is easy to look around at your life and see the things are not going as planned. There are some things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to them that makes all the difference.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey is a great book when it comes to creating the life you want to live, or more importantly, helping you to see your life in a different way. For problems can easily been see as opportunities depending on your point of view. In the book, Covey touches upon 7 habits to incorporate in your daily life so you can live your fullest life.

  • Be Proactive ~ notice what is and what is not within your control. Take action to change what is in your control and release what is not
  • Begin with the end in mind ~ what is your purpose of being here? What do you want to be remembered for?
  • Put first things first ~ what are your priorities? Time management is huge to incorporate here
  • Think win/win ~ cooperation is key to success. Don’t compete against others but find a way to work together for the benefit of everyone
  • Seek first to understand, then to be understood ~ develop your listening skills. How can you help anyone if you aren’t really listening to them?
  • Synergize ~ work with others—be willing to get out there and network—to achieve success. Remember you can’t do it alone
  • Sharpen Your Saw ~ Invest in you! Take time out of your day to work on yourself physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally
